River Street Screening
Come out tomorrow night for some sidewalk grilling and a selection of

We’ll be showing a selection of shorts from Joey Gallagher, Jason John
Wurm and Sam Salganik before our feature, Paul Witzig’s psychedelic
transition era surf film “Sea of Joy”.
This is a BYO event…to grill and drink… Films will start around
8:30 or as soon as its dark enough!

Andy Kessler Foundation Cookout!
This Saturday we will be Hosting a Cookout and Film Screening to Benefit The Andy Kessler Foundation.
Our pals, Buddy and Rick (directors of Deathbowl to Downtown) will be screening their new Skate Film BLOOD SHED (the Creature skate/horror film) along with assorted shorts that include loads of unseen Andy Kessler footage.
There will be Kess T’s and DVD’s for sale as well…. all funds raised will benefit the Andy Kessler Foundation!

Our good buddy, Cyrus Sutton, just released a teaser for his upcoming film, Stoked and Broke. A Staycation Surfari Epic on Zero Dollars. Making their own boards, bamboo rickshaws, solar cookers, and hobo stoves, surfers Ryan Burch and Cyrus Sutton set off on a thirty mile, eight day walk through San Diego, CA. But what begins as a guide to taking a minimalist surfing journey, quickly becomes an examination of freedom vs alienation. For your viewing pleasure.

The Art of Surfboard Shaping
Legendary surfboard shaper Scott Anderson has been making custom surfboards at his Venice shop for over twenty years and has helped advance the evolution of surfboard design. Anderson will discuss the physical properties of different models, design experiments and failures, and the process of tailoring a custom board to the individual. Come to the Hammer Museum on Tuesday, August 24th at 7pm

Summer Jam
Join us, as we celebrate Summer with our 6th monthly Mollusk Jam! We invented this thing with an eye on Summer….and here we are friends. House band Cloysters (with Ben from The Tyde) rolls through some originals, standards, and some summer-themed covers. They will be joined by Jeff Litz (Pierre de Reader, one time-Red House Painter) and Blake Mills (deluxe guitarist). Blake just released a solo album and maybe he’ll sing us some of that. Don’t forget that someone we’re not expecting will show up and rip (girls with guitars and cellos?). July 8th From 6pm- 10pm. See you there!
