"In 1977 I managed to smash myself in the face with the water housing on my camera. The wing-nuts on the back of it were lethal. According to local outlaw folklore, I did it to myself just before they did it to me. I think that I got my brother to take this picture before I went off to Ceduna to be stitched up, and then to the pub in Penong to recover. About a week later, a young Perth kid I’d taken some pictures of that day was attacked by a shark. Fortunately he survived." - John Witzig
