A board designed with a more lateral surfing approach in mind and forward trim. The bottom shape is convex and blends to flat in front of the box and through the tail, like some traditional "displacement hulls" but less so -- resulting in a lower apex rail making the board feel similar in trim to its traditional counterpart, but faster and more responsive. I've also been putting a "normal" amount of tail rocker in combination with hard edge starting at the front of the fin box, enabling the board to be surfed more from the tail if desired, as opposed to the very flat tail rocker/soft rail displacement hulls of the past. I've found that these boards have very similar feeling of a traditional "hull" style shape but can go rail to rail easier and can be surfed even smoother.
