This board came about after Jay Nelson rode the Radio Butterknife. Jay wanted to be able to push the board in critical surf, while still maintaining the speed and feel of the Butterknife. And so... the ButterBlade was born. Jay and Allan Gibbons worked through several iterations to reach their goal of a quiver-killing board.
The ButterBlade can handle soft or steep surf, your local break or a fantasy surf trip. It has a flat deck with a subtle beak nose, foiled tail, and a fairly defined transition into the rails. The rails are low-apex with a defined edge into the bottom panel. The bottom is a very slight flat-panel vee entry that meets a single-to-double concave, creating a tri-plane-type bottom.
