If you only owned one surf film....this should be it. If you don't have it, get it! An absolute classic, financed entirely by Greenough himself and his fishing business, well...errrr....and a little family money as well. The film highlights the cusp of change from longboards to shortboards, with new radical surfing in all directions. All of it good, most of it great. The highlight of the film is the end sequence of Greenough riding his 'spoon' kneeboard in and out of the barrel, using a back-mounted 16mm (must have weighed a ton) film camera. This film was radical at the time and it's still an amazing film today. New collector's edition includes 64-page full color booklet. Light one up, sit back and enjoy the show.
Directed by George Greenough, 1969
